Vehicles that are properly maintained will not only save you from major repairs but it will also keep your passengers safe.  Now that summer is here, many of us will be taking our families either on several day trips or long distance drive.  Before heading out we should consider the following items.
Tires - make sure the tires are properly inflated.  According to the Office of Energy Efficiency reports that each tire that is under-inflated by as little as 2 pounds per square inch causes a one percent increase in fuel consumption.

Windshield Wipers - check your wiper blades periodically for any cracks and tears.  Keep the washer fluid reservoir full at all times.

Headlights & Turn signals - perform a pre-driving inspection to ensure that all lights are working properly; this includes the brake lights, high and low beam and turn signals.

Fuel – ensure use the proper grade of fuel required by your vehicle’s manufacturer.

Fluids – have all fluids checked regularly including oil, brake, power steering, transmission/axle and antifreeze.

Seatbelts & Child Passenger Restraints – for everyone’s safety, make sure that every passenger has a seatbelt.  It’s also important to remember to follow manufacturer’s instructions at all times when installing child booster seat.

Battery – have your technician look for any signs of corrosion forming on battery terminals.  Excessive corrosion can be a sign of a weak or damaged battery.

Air Condition & Heat – before heading out, test both systems to ensure that they are in good working conditions.

Have a great summer from all of us at Foss National Leasing!
